We are happy to announce that Andrés Montero has won the 2025 José Nuez Martín Prize for his novel “The Year We Spoke with the Sea”, published by La Pollera. The prize, awarded by the Faculty of Letters of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (one of the two most important universities of the country), together with the José Nuez Martín Foundation, has recognized outstanding contemporary Chilean literature since 1994, alternating between novels and playwriting. This is its 31st edition.

The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 22, at 12:00, in the auditorium of the UC Faculty of Letters, San Joaquín Campus, Santiago de Chile.

Previous winners of the José Nuez Martín Prize include Jorge Díaz (1994), Diamela Eltit (1995; Chilean National Prize for Literature in 2018), Marco Antonio de la Parra (1996), Nona Fernández (2014), Francisco Ovando (2015), and Hernán Rivera Letelier (2001;  Chilean National Prize for Literature in 2022).
