We are delighted to announce that Patrícia Melo has been awarded the prestigious INDIES Editor’s Choice Prize for Fiction 2023 for her novel “The Simple Art of Killing a Woman,” published by Restless Books. The prize is part of Foreword Magazine’s 2023 INDIES Book of the Year Awards.
The prize was awarded following a rigorous competition that included over 2,400 submissions and multiple rounds of evaluation by editors, librarians, and booksellers. The INDIES awards celebrate outstanding books published in 2023 by small, independent, and university presses.
Among the previous winners in the same category are Sheila O’Connor (2019), Fowzia Karimi (2020), JJ Amaworo Wilson (2021), and Andrey Kurkov (2022).
