We are proud to announce that Lídia Jorge´s novel “Mercy” is among the five finalists of the Oceanos Prize 2023 in the category prose.
This year´s winners will be announced at the São Paulo Instituto Itaú Cultural (IC) on Thursday 7 December at 8pm (UTC-03:00). The ceremony will be streamed on the IC YouTube channel.
The 2023 edition of the Oceanos Prize, one of the most important Portuguese language literature prizes, honours for the first time works in two categories, prose and poetry. The five finalists have two different nationalities: 3 Portuguese and 2 Cape Verdeans. Among the jury members are Guiomar de Grammont, Joca Reiners Terron, João Paulo Cuenca and Ana Paula Maia.
The winners in either category – prose and poetry – will receive 150,000 Reais each (around 27,000 Euros).
