Mia Couto and José Eduardo Agualusa //
We are very excited to announce that out of five finalists for the prestigious Oceanos Prize in the category of prose books, two are our authors: José Eduardo Agualusa with “Master of Drums”, published at Quetzal in Portugal and Tusquets in Brazil, and Mia Couto with “River Blindness”, published at Caminho in Portugal and Companhia das Letras in Brazil.
The other nominated authors are Rui Cardoso Martins, Silvana Tavano and Teresa Veiga.
The prize carries a total monetary award of R$300,000, with R$150,000 for each winner. The winners of the 2025 Oceanos Prize, one in prose and one in poetry, will be announced on December 10.
Among the former winners are Luís Cardoso, José Luís Peixoto, Valter Hugo Mãe, Chico Buarque, Cristovão Tezza, Gonçalo M. Tavares and Milton Hatoum.
