We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for Translating Chile 2026, with a deadline on January 30, 2026, at 23:59 Chile Continental Time. Submissions can be made either in English or Spanish. Results will be published on the 17th of April through www.dirac.gob.cl/.

All publishing houses are invited to submit their translation projects for consideration. The program offers funding of up to USD 6,000 per selected project, covering translation and printing costs. To participate, applicants must nominate an experienced translator with a proven track record, and a professional proofreader to ensure the quality and accuracy of the translation.

Selected proposals will contribute to Chile’s growing literary visibility abroad, particularly in anticipation of the participation as Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2027. To explore the longlist and shortlist of titles from the Chilean delegation, please click here.

Translating Chile supports foreign publishing houses in translating and publishing Chilean literary works—classic or contemporary—into languages other than Spanish. Through this initiative, the aim is to expand the international presence of Chilean literature and strengthen cultural exchange with readers around the world. It's a program of the Division of Cultures, Arts, Heritage and Public Diplomacy (DIRAC) of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since the programme’s launch, more than 150 of Chile’s finest literary titles have been translated into 27 languages. This year alone, 39 publications supported by the Translating Chile fund will reach shelves in 22 countries all around the globe.
