We are happy to share that Pilar Goes to the Amazon. Urgent by Flávia Lins e Silva will be adapted into a live-action feature film by Disney. The news was announced at the D23 fan event in São Paulo, where The Walt Disney Studios present upcoming projects for the next few years.
The book, part of a successful adventure series with the lively ten-year-old Pilar as main protagonist, has sold over 800,000 copies in Brazil and over 300,000 copies in Spanish language. It has been translated in eight countries.
The movie, produced by Conspiração, will begin filming this month in Portugal and Brazil. The cast includes Lina Flor as Pilar, Miguel Soares as Breno, and Sophia Ataíde as Maiara, among others.
Directed by Eduardo Vaisman and Rodrigo Van Der Put, the film is set for release in 2025.
Together João Costa Van Hombeeck, Flávia Lins e Silva is the co-author of the film script.
