We are happy to share that Sergio Bizzio has been nominated for the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize for his short novel Perdidos, published at interZona in Buenos Aires in 2021. The prestigious award, established in 1968, honors the legacy of eminent Venezuelan novelist Rómulo Gallegos and seeks to promote creative excellence in Spanish-language fiction.
The prize was awarded every five years until 1987, when it became biennial.
Over the years, the Rómulo Gallegos Prize has recognized some of the most influential voices in contemporary literature, including Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa, Javier Marías, Ángeles Mastretta, Roberto Bolaño, Enrique Vila-Matas, Elena Poniatowska and Perla Suez.
The award consists of 100.000 USD.
The winner will be announced in November.
