Gonçalo M. Tavares is finalist of the Jean Monnet Prize for the best European book published in France with his novel A Girl is Lost in Her Century Looking for Her Father (“Uma menina está perdida no seu século à procura do pai”). Among the other finalists are Bernhard Schlink, Julian Barnes, and Graham Swift.

Former laureates are Patrick Modiano, J.G Ballard, Claudio Magris, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, and Erri de Luca.
