QualityLand rights acquired by Kawade Shobo Shinsha

Rights to QualityLand by Marc-Uwe Kling have just been acquired by Kawade Shobo Shinsha, one of the most important literary publishing houses in Japan. Their international list includes contemporary and classic authors such as Chimamanda Ngozo Adichie, George Saunders, Patricia Highsmith, Mario Vargas Llosa, Jack Kerouak and Thomas Mann. Recently Kawade published very successfully “Look Who’s Back” by Timur Vermes.

Ullstein launched the original German edition of QualityLand with a first print run of 200,000 copies on 22nd September 2017, and the novel jumped from position zero to 6 on the Spiegel Bestseller list in the first week thereafter. Today, it’s still among the top 20.
